trainer, Greg Nelson will be at the Kombat Arts, the Feb 7/8 weekend.  The 1st day will be dedicated to Muay Thai, specifically the clinch, and the 2nd day will cover MMA.  Just watch this video of Greg training Sean.  Coming to this seminar will give you an idea of the training and tactics that these fighters use to be Champions in the UFC-Jd

Ok, these are not really the last batch of our athletes and staff at the 2009 CASK Nationals.  They’re the last batch from Anastasia.  However there are tonnes of piks taken by Jakub Mulik.  We will post them on another site; there is just too many of them. The Legend of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Passes Away

  Master and Father of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Helio Gracie, passed away at the age of 95.  Master Gracie’s contributions to the martial arts world were boundless, improving the lives of many and greatly affecting the way we look at martial arts, reality based self defense and life itself.  Master Helio Gracie will be missed and our condolances go out to his family-Jd

More Leo Teasers

If you were able to make it through yesterday’s crappy weather and you came out to the MMA class, you would have been in for a real treat as Leo Santos was on hand to teach the class.  Leo will be in for the remainder of the week teaching the classes and please do not forget about the seminar this weekend, for Gi and No GI.  This means that BJJ class for this Saturday is cancelled.  If you want to improve your sweeps, bottom game and over all grappling, especially for the upcoming BJJ tournaments, come to this seminar and expand your skills-Jd

Leo Santos Teasers

Ok, if you did not come out to tonight’s BJJ class, you really missed out! Leo Santos was in to teach our BJJ class this evening.  He will also be here during the week to teach a few of the MMA and other BJJ classes.  Which ones?  You’ll just have to come to all of them to see which ones he shows up at.  These classes are “teasers” or a prelude to Leo’s seminar this weekend.  Leo is a top internationally ranked BJJ competitor who has also fought MMA.  If you are looking to improve you BJJ gi and no gi game, or your MMA game, you must come to this weekend’s seminar.  See you guys on the mat   Jd

Mississauga Kombat Muay Thai Athletes Excel at the Nationals!

  There are a lot of congratulations and thanks in order.  I will try to make this brief.  Congrats to all of the coaches that either helped train the athletes or came out and helped with gear, warm ups and corner work.  A lot of people don’t realize how much support goes into an athlete and their training: Master Lee, Roberto Herrera, David Edwards, Marc Mendoza, Sly Organka (who fought on day 1 and coached on day 2) and Rafael Delgado.

I was really happy to have a lot of the Kombat members come out and support their school!  It was awesome. There was so much cheering and goodwill and it was much appreciated by the staff and athletes.  You definetly made me proud

Kevin Nabbie wins the Gold with a unanimous decision

Sylwester “Sly” Organka wins the National Low Kick Championship belt with a unanimous decision.  Sly really looked good after a 1 1/2 years from the ring

Nenad Cvejic loses against a really seasoned fighter who after the match can only speak highly of Nenad and was stunned that this was Nenad’s 1st low kick match

Headley “PeeWee” Hinds loses his match by majority decision.  Getting better PeeWee, a little at a time

Julian della Vedova wins the Thai Boxing National Championship belt via unanimous decision

Max Grech wins the Thai Boxing National Championship belt via TKO in the 3rd round with leg kicks

Joel Holland who earned his skills under Eddie De Nobrega and who represented Kombat Arts at this tournament won the Gold by a 3rd round TKO due to a right hand to the body

Kareem Hackett wins the Gold with a unanimous decision

Paolo Dultra had to settle for a demo match (everyone ask Kevin Nabbie why this happened) and Kyran Cameron had his match cancelled because they were mismatched.

Kevin Nabbie won Junior Athlete of the Year for Thai Boxing and Kombat Arts got the 2nd place for the Most Supportive Club for this event.

Mo Abedeen Get Silver at the Boxing Nationals!

  Congrats to Mohammed Abedeen for making it to the Boxing National finals and getting the Silver Medal.  We are all proud of you!! Jd

New Muay Thai Class @ Kombat Arts Mississauga

For a limited time we are going to add a new Muay Thai class to the schedule.  This class will be a Beginners class held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 PM.  Please keep in mind that this is a trial run; hope to catch you there!  Jd
